About FLESA

Welcome to FLESA, the Foreign Language Education Student Association at the University of Texas at Austin. FLESA is an organization of more than 100 graduate students who are all who are all interested in foreign language education. As a student-run organization, FLESA aims to provide quality academic and social experiences to its members.

Academically, FLESA provides a network of students and faculty with similar interests, and rich ideas that make our profession distinct.  In addition, FLESA alerts you to upcoming forums, conferences, and lectures both on and off campus, as well as making its own significant contribution to scholarship through its Texas Papers in Foreign Language Education (TPFLE), a biannual journal with an international readership.

Socially, FLESA holds regular potlucks and evening get-togethers where students, faculty, and family members mingle and relax in an informal setting. With FLESA one quickly creates a circle of friends and acquaintances who add an extra dose of human warmth and sharing to soften the rigors of university life.

Professionally, FLESA distributes information about job market activities, both in the U.S. and abroad, and promotes network building among professional contacts, which provides a lifetime of benefits.

If you are a graduate student in Foreign Language Education, Applied Linguistics, Teaching English as a Foreign/Second Language, or Bilingual Education, you may want to consider joining FLESA.
